At Creava Studio for the Arts it is our mission to provide quality instruction, a comfortable environment, and the tools you need, to encourage you to explore and express your artistic nature. We offer a variety of classes in a variety of mediums. We understand that in this fast paced world it is difficult to find time to take care of ourselves. We also know that self care is an essential part of our quality of life.
We have provided class times below, but please be aware that we can create a learning experience just for your situation. There is no minimum number to hold a class and most classes are repeated several times a week. To find the time slot that works for you contact Debbie at 417-880-3531 to discuss times and class preferences.
This is a watercolor class that will accommodate all levels, from beginners to advanced. There will be plenty of learning experiences for everyone. Learn to paint from a lifelong professional artist and illustrator, who can teach you tips and techniques from her years of experience. Watercolors are not as difficult as you might have been told, once you understand certain principals and methods of the medium. Your instructor will help you learn the skills that are required for you to begin your creative journey. Watercolors have unique qualities and spontaneous reactions that are unlike any other medium – they are exciting and a delight to paint with. Come explore and play with this wonderful medium!
You will be given a short supply list on your first day of class.

WILDLIFE AND ANIMALS
The emphasis of this class will be on drawing and painting wildlife and animals. We will begin with learning different techniques of drawing the animals, and progress to methods of painting the various elements (fur, feathers, eyes, etc.). We will work from photographs – you may bring your own, or use one that will be provided for you. There will be lots of demonstrations, learning exercises, and personal instruction, which will lead to a painting of the animal of your choice.
You may work in your choice of mediums (watercolor, acrylic, oils, etc.), however, we cannot allow solvents to be used in the studio due to lack of ventilation (turpentines – even the odorless mineral spirits are still toxic). The following substances are allowed to be used in the studio in place of solvents:
Lavender Essential Oil
Art Treehouse Bio Based Artist’s Thinner
Gamblin’s Solvent Free Gel Medium (or other similar alkyd based solvent free medium upon approval)
Any kind of vegetable oil will clean your brushes, followed by soap and water

YOUR CHOICE PAINTING CLASS
This is an interactive, individualized painting class that is designed for all experience levels from beginner to advanced. Rather than doing a “paint along” type of class, you choose the medium (watercolor, graphite, acrylics, solvent free oils, pastels, etc.), and you choose the subject matter of the artwork that you would like to do. I will help you to develop your composition, and teach you techniques and tips to take your idea from thumbnail to finished painting. Although this will be a small group setting, you will receive lots of individualized instruction on your art project.
